skape energi eller til industrielle form\u00e5l, men spiller ogs\u00e5 en stadig viktigere rolle i behandlingen av ulike typer kreft.\u00a0<\/p><p>P\u00e5 grunn av sine radioaktive egenskaper er thorium i stand til \u00e5 \u00f8delegge kreftceller. For \u00e5 gj\u00f8re dette blir thorium sendt gjennom et seperasjonssystem som skiller thorium fra radium. Den resulterende radium, som er en alfa-emitter, gir kortdistansestr\u00e5ling som effektivt \u00f8delegger n\u00e6rliggende kreftceller uten \u00e5 skade friskt vev. Metoden er ogs\u00e5 milj\u00f8vennlig, ettersom alle kjemikaliene i prosessen resirkuleres, noe som betyr at thorium hele tiden produserer nytt radium. Selskapet muliggj\u00f8r en betydelig endring i kreftbehandling med alfa-emittere for neste generasjons presisjonsbehandling. I oktober 2024 \u00e5pnet virksomheten en testfabrikk for produksjon av thoriumbaserte kreftmedisiner p\u00e5 Her\u00f8ya i Porsgrunn.<\/p><p>Thor Medical mottar et l\u00e5n p\u00e5 90 millioner kroner fra Innovasjon Norge, noe som sikrer fullfinansiering av selskapets f\u00f8rste kommersielle anlegg, Alphaone.
